Jobber vs Housecall Pro for Roofers: Which Is Cheaper and Easier?

Updated October 13, 2026 · Some links may be affiliate links. How we make money.

Every roofer eventually outgrows the notebook, the whiteboard and the pile of texts. You need one place to take leads, send estimates, schedule crews and get paid. The two names you’ll hear most often are Jobber and Housecall Pro.

Both are “field service management” apps built for home service businesses. Neither one is roofing-specific, but both handle the basics a roofing company needs. Here’s how they compare, using only what each company publishes on its official pricing page (checked October 13, 2026).

The quick answer

  • Pick Jobber if you’re a solo roofer or small crew who wants the lowest starting price and flexible billing.
  • Pick Housecall Pro if you want no long-term contract, plenty of users included on bigger plans, and built-in consumer financing to help close big replacement jobs.

Both have a 14-day free trial with no credit card, so the honest advice is to try the one that fits your size below and see which app your crew actually uses.

Jobber: plans and prices

Jobber prices by plan and team size. For one user, billed annually:

  • Core, $29/mo ($49 with no commitment). Online booking, quotes, invoices with online payments, a simple website, reporting, and 100+ app integrations.
  • Connect, $99/mo ($139 with no commitment). Adds automated client reminders, automatic payments, checklists, automated quote and invoice follow-ups, QuickBooks Online sync, and time and expense tracking.
  • Grow, $149/mo ($199 with no commitment). Adds quotes with photos and reviews, optional line items for upsells, job costing, two-way SMS and custom automations.
  • Plus, starting at $399/mo for 5 users ($499 with no commitment). Adds unlimited job photos and videos, crew scheduling, a lead Pipeline, a Marketing Suite, the AI Receptionist, and premium support.

Bigger teams pay more. For example, Grow with 5 users is $229/mo billed annually. Extra users are $29/mo each.

Billing options matter. Jobber offers three: monthly with no commitment (cancel anytime), monthly with a 1-year commitment (you keep paying until the year ends), and prepaid annual (non-refundable). The annual price is the cheapest, but only commit once you’re sure.

Roofer-friendly features:

  • Quote follow-ups: Jobber can automatically follow up by email or text when a homeowner hasn’t responded to a quote. That matters a lot for replacement estimates that sit for weeks.
  • Progress invoicing: bill as you go on big jobs.
  • Home Depot pricing: quote using current Home Depot product prices and local store availability.
  • Spanish mobile app for team members (not admins or owners).

Housecall Pro: plans and prices

Housecall Pro has three plans: Basic, Essentials and MAX.

  • Basic, $59/mo billed annually ($79 monthly). Online booking from Google or your website, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments and consumer financing, a price book, job costing and review management.
  • Essentials (5 users included). Adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports with annotations, employee GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync.
  • MAX (8 users included, $35/mo per extra user). Adds a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support.

Every plan includes live phone and chat support, iOS and Android apps, English and Spanish, and access to business and consumer financing.

Roofer-friendly features:

  • Consumer financing: offering homeowners a monthly payment option can help close a $15,000 roof replacement.
  • Photo reports and annotations (Essentials and up): mark up damage photos and send a clean report, which is handy for insurance work.
  • Review management on every plan.
  • No long-term contracts, per Housecall Pro’s FAQ.

Fine print: Housecall Pro says it’s designed for “HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping, and others.” Roofing isn’t named, but the core tools (estimates, scheduling, invoicing) work the same.

AI phone answering: a big deal for roofers

Roofers miss calls constantly because they’re on roofs. Both platforms now sell AI that answers for you:

  • Jobber Receptionist ($29/mo add-on, included on Plus): answers calls and texts 24/7, answers questions using your Jobber account details, creates work requests, books visits using your online booking settings, and texts back callers who hang up. You choose “urgent” keywords that trigger a transfer or text alert to you. It works with your existing number through call forwarding. Source: Jobber Receptionist.
  • Housecall Pro CSR AI (add-on): the pricing page says it “answers every call and chat, day or night so your schedule stays full.” We couldn’t find the add-on’s price on the public pricing page.

If AI answering is the main thing you need, also see our Best AI receptionist for roofers guide. Standalone tools can be cheaper if you don’t need a full job-management app.

Payment fees compared

Fees add up fast on big roofing invoices. On a $12,000 job paid by card:

  • Jobber online card rate (2.9% + 30¢): about $348.30.
  • Housecall Pro at its lowest listed rate (2.59%): about $310.80. Housecall Pro says rates are “as low as” 2.59%, so your actual rate may be higher.
  • Both charge 1% for bank (ACH) payments, or $120 on the same job. Push homeowners toward bank payment for big invoices.

Which should you choose?

  • Solo roofer, just getting organized: Jobber Core at $29/mo (annual) is the cheapest way in. Add Receptionist for $29/mo if you miss a lot of calls.
  • Small crew that sends lots of replacement quotes: Jobber Connect or Grow for automated quote follow-ups and two-way texting.
  • Crew of 5 to 8 that sells big jobs with financing: Housecall Pro Essentials or MAX, which include more users and consumer financing on every plan.
  • You hate contracts: Housecall Pro, or Jobber’s no-commitment monthly option.

How to test both in two weeks

Both trials are free for 14 days with no card. Run a real customer and a real quote through each, and pick the one your crew complains about least.

Bottom line

Jobber wins on starting price and flexible billing, and its $29 AI Receptionist add-on is easy to justify for a roofer who misses calls. Housecall Pro wins on contract freedom, included users on bigger plans and built-in consumer financing. Try both free and let your crew decide.
